Kandy – The Cultural Heart of the Hill Country

Kandy, the last capital of the ancient kings' era of Sri Lanka, is a vibrant city steeped in history and surrounded by misty mountains and tea plantations. Located in the center of the island, it is a city of immense cultural and religious significance. The picturesque Kandy Lake, built by the last Sinhalese king in 1807, sits at the heart of the city, providing a peaceful focal point amidst the bustling streets.

The city's crown jewel is the Sri Dalada Maligawa, or the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. The nearby Udawatta Kele Sanctuary provides serene forest walks right above the city.
